Events

Community Events with Ashland Parks and Recreation 1 Ashland Parks & Recreation hosts several annual events. If you are planning a special event or outdoor activity for the public, please visit the Special Event Request Information page for more information.

Enjoy a local celebration of World Bird Migratory Day on Saturday, May 16th, 8 am – Noon at North Mountain Park Nature Center in Ashland. Rogue Valley Bird Day will include educational exhibits from local bird interest groups and more, as well as fun all-ages activities.

Adult and children’s binoculars will be available for checkout, with bird walks leaving every 15-30 minutes. These easy walks travel along the park’s bark-chipped trails, or along the accessible, paved bike path. Visitors may also sit down and enjoy the bird watching from the covered pavilion. This year’s event is coordinated by Klamath Bird Observatory, Rogue Valley Audubon Society, and Ashland Parks and Recreation.

The theme “Every Bird Counts – Your Observations Matter,” highlights the importance of citizen birding science. Crafts, games, and a self-guided activity booklet will be on hand for kids to learn about birds and earn prizes. At 11am all ages are invited to compete in the annual Bird Calling Contest and “Name that Bird” contest. Join us for a day of birding fun!

A look back at the City of Ashland Community Concerts in Lithia Park 2025

This short film celebrates community concerts in Lithia Park through collaboration with Epic Ashland, Ashland Folk Collective and the Parks and Recreation Department. We are Better Together!

The video was made possible through the dedication and expertise of Postscript Strategy and the SOU Digital Media Center, who helped capture interviews with City leaders and community partners over four days of filming in Ashland. From more than five hours of interviews, this high-level piece was crafted to intentionally showcase the breadth of work underway across the City.

We are deeply grateful to David Sommers and Brandon Dowling of Postscript Strategy, and Brandon Givens and Jack Hannon of the SOU Digital Media Center, for producing, filming and bringing this project to life. We also thank our community partners who generously shared their time and perspectives: Epic Ashland and Ashland Folk Collective. Images of the Lithia Park concerts in the film are courtesy of Epic Ashland and Ashland Folk Collective. Additional concert footage in Lithia Park is courtesy of Ashland Folk Collective.
