Fire & Rescue
Volunteer with CERT, your Community Emergency Response Team for Ashland Fire & Rescue. Our CERT team trains the community to prepare for, manage and recover from disasters. Learn how you can help yourself and your neighbors by joining one of our monthly training sessions to meet members of the team and learn more about what we do. To officially become a CERT volunteer, you’ll need to complete our Basic Training Course, offered twice a year, where you will learn critical skills like live fire extinguishment, radio operations, stop-the-bleed and more! Police
Looking for a unique and rewarding way to give back to your community? Volunteers with the Ashland Police Department play a vital role in keeping our city vibrant and safe. From helping manage parades and city events to patrolling downtown, Lithia Park and the bike path, volunteers serve as friendly eyes and ears, reporting issues and sharing helpful reminders about City and Park ordinances. They also assist behind the scenes, delivering important legal documents between City departments, courts, and District Attorney’s Office. Ragland Award
The James M. Ragland Memorial Ashland "Volunteer Spirit" Community Service Award was established by the City Council on April 19, 1994. This award honors the memory of James M. Ragland, who served as Council President and Planning Commissioner.

Occasionally, there are openings on the Planning Commission or one of our six Advisory Committees. All members are appointed by the Mayor. Both the Council and the Parks & Recreation Commission are elected seats.
