The Wastewater Division of the Public Works Department is responsible for the collection and treatment of all wastewater generated in the city of Ashland. The division is comprised of two sections, wastewater collections and wastewater treatment. The collections division performs routine maintenance, repairs, and planned replacements of the city’s networks of sewer collection pipes. In total the collection system is more than 110 miles of pipe, connecting nearly every structure in town to the wastewater treatment plant. The wastewater treatment plant is located at the northern end of town and treats on average 2.2 million gallons of wastewater each day. The treatment plant is regulated by the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and all the wastewater treated must meet strict standards as outlined by the DEQ.
