A small lightning-caused fire of 1/10th of an acre has been detected by the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. A crew is currently dropping in to line the fire with support from a helicopter that will dip from Reeder Reservoir. The fire is high in the watershed and poses no threat to the community. People may see a helicopter this afternoon and tomorrow as needed by firefighters on the ground. Early season conditions, including snow still on the ground in some areas, will help firefighters. Thunderstorms over the past few days have lead to several fires, according to the Forest Service. Only one fire has been located near Ashland.
There will be no more updates as long as the fire is being successfully extinguished.
