UPDATE, November 3, 2 p.m.
Crews have completed repairs to the broken section of pipe on B Street. The pipe, which is six inches in diameter, had split along the top for about eight feet.
While the main repair is now complete, crews are still working to safely restore water service to the affected area. We expect water to be back on by 6 p.m. at the latest, unless something unexpected arises.
The excavation was extensive, approximately five feet deep, and the leak caused significant damage to the road surface. Temporary steel plates will be installed so the road can reopen this evening, but follow-up road and valve repair work will continue over the next several days (weather permitting).
We appreciate everyone’s patience as our crews work to restore service and make the area safe again. Please continue to use caution when traveling through the area, as crews and equipment remain on-site.
ORIGINAL Post, Monday, November 3, 9:15 a.m.
Our crew has shut off the water to address a leak on B Street. Unfortunately, this has also interrupted water service to several surrounding blocks. Crews are currently excavating the area to locate and repair the issue. We anticipate water service will be restored later this afternoon at the earliest, and we’ll provide an updated estimate as soon as possible.
Please use caution when traveling through the area, crews and equipment are actively working on-site.
Thanks to our Streets Division for the great work! We are Better Together!
