Screenshot 2026-01-08 080026

The U.S. Forest Service- Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest will be conducting controlled burning in the Ashland Watershed today. Smoke may be more visible today due to the clearing skies and colder air this evening. Smoke may impact neighborhoods surrounding Lithia Park up to the Strawberry Lane area this evening if cold air drops into town, a typical winter pattern. Conditions are favorable for safe burning during the day with snow on the ground above town and winds forecast to move the majority of smoke away from town. Burn locations on the map below correspond with areas marked 101, 48, and 22.

Trails in the area could be impacted by smoke, including: Horn Gap, No Candies, Potlicker, and the 2060 road above Granite Street to the Horn Gap area.

If you smell smoke, take precautions like closing windows and avoiding outdoor activities. Sensitive individuals are advised to run indoor air purifiers if indoor air quality declines. See more at smokewiseashland.org.
