2024 Summer Fire Season Has Ended. Open Burning is Allowed Only with a Permit from Ashland Fire & Rescue
Widespread rain has ended fire season in Jackson and Josephine counties as of October 27th, 2024. The end of fire season allows for a short open burn season within the City of Ashland, lasting until November 1st, when air quality regulations restrict open burning inside the Rogue Valley Air Quality Management Area between November 1st and March 1st each year.
To request an open burn permit inspection, please fill out this form: https://ashlandoregon.gov/formcenter/fire-department-11/outdoor-burn-permit-65. Burning is limited to native vegetation for fuels reduction purposes and only as a last option after considering chipping and hauling debris.
The following fire restrictions are in effect throughout the City of Ashland on all properties, at all times of the year:
- Fireworks and sky lanterns are prohibited throughout the year within the City of Ashland
Expect smoke during prescribed, or controlled, burning in the cool season
Forestland prescribed burning takes place outside of Fire Season. Expect to see periodic smoke from forests surrounding Ashland during the cool and wet season.
