City staff is currently working on a median island improvement project to reduce maintenance, conserve water and improve safety. Overgrown vegetation and an outdated irrigation system are being removed, while existing trees are being carefully preserved. The areas will be leveled and replaced with decorative rock, which is both Waterwise and Firewise. The project aligns with one of Council’s priorities for 2025–2027: Risk Reduction, including wildfire risk mitigation and CEAP (Climate and Energy Action Plan) implementation.
The $2,700 cost for new rock is funded through the General Fund. The project is a joint decision by the City Manager’s Office and the Parks and Public Works Departments, with all work being performed by City staff.
