Rental Unit PTHP Heat Pump Program

Rental Unit Packaged Terminal Heat Pump (PTHP) Installation 

Replace your old inefficient system with a new, highly efficient heat pump. PTHPs can reduce heating electricity needs by up to 300% resulting in lower electric costs during the heating months. 

  • This incentive is applicable for both apartment buildings and homes with rental units. 

Program Requirements

  • Have an Ashland Electric Utility account.

  • Refrigerant storage/disposal requirements must be documented for old units. 
  • The PTHP must have an AHRI certificate of product rating. (Air-conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute).  
  • Replace an existing inefficient resistance electric unit with a new PTHP. 
  • Must comply with building code where applicable. 

Current Incentive

  • The incentive can reimburse up to 100% of the costs for parts and installation up to $1200. 
  • Rental unit owner must apply for the incentive; however, a tenant is welcome to inquire about the program and schedule the initial site inspection.  
  • Income qualified applicants/tenants (200% of the federal poverty limit) may be eligible for additional funds or other measures. Please contact us for details.
