The Ashland Rotary Centennial Ice Rink is being retrofitted to bring the canopy structure up to building code. The ice rink was closed for the 2025-2026 winter season, but is anticipated to open this spring after the renovations are installed.
While undergoing a permitting process to allow the canopy structure to remain up year round, we discovered that the Ice Rink's canopy structure does not meet the snow load requirement in our building code. We plan to install cables to strengthen the structure, bringing it into code compliance. Before implementing the cabling, we are working with a local engineering firm to perform an engineering assessment to ensure that the solution will bring the structure fully into code.
We will also install minor improvements to help increase accessibility and egress for skaters for next season.
