Standing Steady is a one-of-a-kind class taught by Lisa Ralston, a licensed physical therapist, who is well-versed in OTAGO—a scientifically proven method that can reduce fall risk by up to 40%.

This program is not only to incorporate the principles of OTAGO but also to include their own innovative practices. This class is tailored for individuals who have experienced falls or are concerned about their balance, particularly those who may find other Senior Center classes difficult due to unsteadiness. The class structure includes a combination of seated and standing exercises (with support) and weekly home exercises, including walking.

The monthly fee of $100 ($25/class) reflects the exceptional value of this program. (Compare with a typical physical therapy assessment fee of $100-$250.) Each session benefits from a physical therapist, offering specialized and individualized attention. This small-group format ensures that each participant receives the focused support necessary to improve balance and reduce fall risk effectively.
