View Mayor Tonya Graham’s proclamation for Martin Luther King Jr Day
Join Ashland's 37th Annual Celebration of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 20, at Noon! This inspiring event will take place at the Historic Ashland Armory, located at 208 Oak St. in Ashland, and is open to all with free entry. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.
The celebration honors Dr. King's legacy with powerful words and live performances centered on the theme: "The Battle is in our hands… We must keep going… The end we seek is a society at peace with itself, one that can live with its conscience." Tim Bond is the keynote speaker.
For those unable to attend in person, you can still be part of the celebration through a simulcast livestream at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Carpenter Hall, 44 S Pioneer St, or watch via RVTV Prime, rvtv.sou.edu, and online at SOMLK.org. Follow on Facebook @SouthernOregonMLKDay. or Instagram @SOMLKDAY.
In person, we encourage attendees to bring non-perishable food donations to support our community.
The celebration will conclude with a powerful march to Ashland Plaza, where the iconic “I Have a Dream” speech will be shared.
Please note: City offices will be closed in observance of MLK Day.
Come together as we honor Dr. King’s vision for peace and equality! “We are Better Together!”
