Learn about the Classification & Compensation Study
The City’s last classification and compensation study was conducted between 2008 and 2010. As part of the City Council’s commitment to maintaining a competitive and equitable workplace, funding for a new study was included in the 2023/2025 Biennium Budget. In May 2024, the City partnered with McGrath Human Resources Group to conduct a comprehensive review of employee classifications, compensation, benefits and job descriptions across all union and non-represented groups. This study supports the City's goal of becoming an employer of choice by ensuring internal equity, market competitiveness and a consistent, transparent framework for classification, promotion and negotiation.
On May 20, 2025, at the City Council Regular Business Meeting, McGrath Human Resources Group presented the Classification and Compensation Study Final Executive Report for the City of Ashland.
